Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring

Next week, or rather the week after, June 11th anyhow, we’ll be at The Beat Kitchen opening up for Canadian fuzz monsters Pet Sun.  I know I say this every time and it’s getting a bit predictably redundant, but I’m pretty sure this is going to be a good show with a good turnout and with fun times had by all.  In the meantime we’re (I’m) still pounding away on a new record, writing new songs, discarding half written ones, and recording things in fits and spurts.

“Summer is only the unfulfilled promise of spring, a charlatan in place of the warm balmy nights I dream of in April.  It’s a sad season of life without growth…It has no day.”

This is the future

It’s a new year, nothing has been posted for ages…  Apathy envelopes.  Even our fucking cover photo is out of date.  That dude with his head turned?  Haven’t seen him in months.

That being said, it’s essential to keep putting one foot in front of the other.  On January 20th, we will be at Schuba’s, playing lots of new music.  One of the bands just dropped out, so we might just play for hours and see who sticks around.  On January 15th around 7:30p, we will be on WLUW 88.7, turning air waves into electricity, then into radio waves, back into electricity, and finally returning it to the air, all while struggling to suppress my sailor mouth.  The FCC is one more problem I don’t need.

Fuck, it’s July already?

Schubas was a good time as usual…. made especially delightful by the last minute addition of Anthony playing the four string bass guitar.  That dude learned all them tunes in a few days and brought the thunder with no sweat.  We’ll be at The Whistler on July 14th for a free show benefiting our good pals at CHIRP Radio, and there’s a few new tunes finding their way onto Soundcloud in a relatively nascent stage.  Dig.

April is the cruelest month, but that’s behind us now.

I was ready to post the usual ‘thanks for coming out, what a good time’ sort of thing, but that Subt show kinda sucked.  The highlight of the evening was definitely the two girls getting hassled for washing the X’s off of their hands.  Those were the days…

Upcoming shows at Schubas and The Whistler, and new songs in the works, and hopefully a new record sooner than later.

“You gave me hyacinths first a year ago;
“They called me the hyacinth girl.”
—Yet when we came back, late, from the Hyacinth garden,
Your arms full, and your hair wet, I could not
Speak, and my eyes failed, I was neither
Living nor dead, and I knew nothing,
Looking into the heart of light, the silence.
Oed’ und leer das Meer.

Upcoming shows, tropical drinks, streaming revenue

We will be making our Hideout debut on April 3rd, supporting Spirits and the Melchizedek Children, with Audiences opening up the evening.  Showtime is 9pm, and here’s some Facebook info

Later on in April, the 11th to be specific, we’ll be playing free for the people, helping out local weirdos Royal Pines with their record release show at Cole’s.

Meanwhile, the winter continues unabated, and Michelles is hunkered down in various tropical locations, sipping singapore slings, and working out new material, which may or may not pop up soon in demo form.  Keep an eye on the Soundcloud page for any new additions.

And finally and least importantly, the record should be available on iTunes and Spotify and Pandora and all that kind of stuff very soon.

Shows press etc.

The mustache bash was a swinging good time, and the lovely people of Indianapolis took very good care of us.  Also this week, Impose Magazine did a splendid little writeup about ‘Seasick Accidents,’  and ChicagoMixTape put ‘Instill Confusion’ right at the top of their latest mix, just in time to hype up the show at Township on Thursday the 5th.  Dig!
